Get ready for the countdown! Saturday, October 10th, the doors of Nirvana Studios will swing open at 4 PM to celebrate the 23rd edition of the Open Day Festival. Located in Barcarena, this free-entry event continues to be the epicenter of cultural synergies, arts, and alternative lifestyle, preserving that vintage 'on the road' DNA that has made it unique since the first kilometer of this journey. What began as an intimate celebration of the Custom Circus troupe's anniversary—back when their life was purely nomadic—quickly transformed into an annual phenomenon. Today, Open Day is much more than a party: it's an emblematic gathering that unites different generations and officially marks the return of the annual cycle of Nirvana Studios, the leading Alternative Cultural Center in the municipality of Oeiras. The program maintains its multidisciplinary essence, merging resident projects with external guests, both national and international, who share the festival's vibrant identity. In this edition, the commitment is renewed: to keep alive the spirit of cooperation, proactivity, and boundless creativity — the fundamental pillars that have underpinned the mission of this space since its founding.

Custom Circus
Os Custom Circus surgem pela 1ª vez em 1988 no imaginário do livro A Saga da Roda, tendo sido posteriormente criados para o mundo real pelo trio Daniela Sousa (Daniella Vol), Michel Alex (Michel Gigolo) e Rui Gago (Dr.Apokalipse) quando os seus caminhos convergiram durante produções de Lisboa Capital da Cultura 1994 devido às suas colaborações numa tournée da Cª La Fura Dels Baus e no lançamento do álbum Songs of Distant Earth de Mike Oldfield.

De forma arriscada, evolutiva e perseverante, o trio especializou-se em eventos alternativos e shows multimédia para multinacionais arrojadas, contratando artistas e várias companhias para a realização de centenas de espectáculos exclusivos e pontuais. Só após 10 anos no circuito das multinacionais é que decidiram adoptar definitivamente em 2002 o seu nome de código Custom Circus, designação que derivou da sua génese nómada e da forma como estacionavam os seus 30 veículos teatrais numa arena cénica com estética Dieselpunk e Steampunk. Com uma estrutura teatral vintage muito complicada de manter e face aos obstáculos que enfrentavam quotidianamente por serem tão diferentes e estranhos criaram uma frase para receber os novos membros da companhia e do seu entourage: "Todos querem milagres e pensam que é fácil!".
