Will Gregory Moog Ensemble Biography
Will Gregory, accomplished multi-instrumentalist, composer, record producer, and one half of the electro-pop duo Goldfrapp, is gearing up to release the debut album of his Will Gregory Moog Ensemble, Heat Ray.
The award-winning musician formed Goldfrapp in 1999 alongside bandmate Alison Goldfrapp. They released seven albums, earning multiple awards and nominations, including Ivor Novellos and Grammy nods. Gregory's collaborations extend to Tears for Fears, Peter Gabriel, and Portishead, with his own compositional work spanning across opera (Picard in Space), film and TV scores (BBC’s Serengeti & Chloe, AMC’s Soulmates), and theatre (National Theatre of Scotland’s James III trilogy).
In 2005 he formed the Will Gregory Moog Ensemble, a unique ensemble of musicians performing with analogue synthesisers that, at times, comprises up to fourteen players. The ensemble’s members – a talented bunch who have worked with the likes of Florence & the Machine and Dua Lipa - include Portishead’s Adrian Utley, John Baggott, Graham Fitkin, Simon Haram, Vyvyan Hope-Scott, Ross Hughes, Hazel Mills, Daniel Moore, Hinako Omari, Eddie Parker, Harriet Riley and Ruth Wall.
The Ensemble have played concerts and electronic music festivals across the UK and Europe, and their debut album, Heat Ray, inspired by the work of Archimedes, the Greek mathematician who lived and worked in the third century BC, was recorded with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
