Performing Live: WHORES VENUS TWINS REPTOID Whores are the new kings of noise rock. The Atlanta trio has established themselves as one of the most successful and motivated bands in the genre today. Through intense, cathartic live performances and the perfected aggressive tenacity present on their recordings, the band has gained a fervent following sure to do nothing but grow in the years to come. Their debut album was widely praised, garnering spots in the top ten on album of the year lists through publications such as Rolling Stone, MetalSucks, Heavy Planet, Invisible Oranges, Shiny Grey Monotone, and more. They have taken noise rock to the next level and show no signs of slowing down on their quest for world domination! Venus Twins: Critics have described their music as "a direct assault to the senses" and a "submersion into suffocating waves that welcome you with sounds of metallic scrapes and frantic anger". But identical twins Matt (bass and vocals) and Jake Derting (drums), aka Venus Twins, describe their band as ‘noise rock noise’. Together the duo adeptly mix strokes of no wave, industrial, and drone with a hefty onslaught of huge, metal-tinged riffage that pummels the listener into submission. Reptoid is a one-man industrial/noise-rock musician who unleashes alien sermons and maniacal sounds via homemade gear. The sole member, Jordan Sobolew, surrounds himself with an army of drums, homemade fuzz pedals, noise devices and a sampler, to produce spastic, hypnotizing rhythms, and painfully amplified sounds drenched in effects through an oversized pedal-board full of odd implements. Vocals are delivered through a mic strapped directly to the face by a modified respirator mask.
