Celebrate the Music of Levon Helm w/Professor Louie & The Crowmatix at Colony!
Professor Louie & The Crowmatix will perform a special concert in honor of Levon Helm’s Birthday. When Levon Helm wanted to perform solo shows in the ‘90’s, he recruited the Woodstock Band The Crows which morphed into Levon Helm & The Crowmatix. They began playing many venues and released a CD called Souvenir Vol. 1. with Levon singing, playing drums & mandolin & joined by The Crowmatix. To celebrate Levon’s Birthday, Professor Louie & The Crowmatix will play songs from Souvenir Vol. 1 plus songs from The Band & his solo career that Levon made famous, as well as Crowmatix originals. Aaron “Professor Louie” Hurwitz Co-produced The Band’s last three CD’s collaborating with them for over fifteen years including their comeback hits Atlantic City & Blind Willie McTell along with many of their 90’s repertoire. Professor Louie & The Crowmatix have been expanding the borders of the Americana, Roots & Blues genres since the early 2000’s with Professor Louie’s stories, keyboard playing, singing and accordion. Their repertoire continues to expand with Crowmatix songs from their 17 Albums of Originals, Blues and Americana music. Their connection with audiences at shows helps create a family rapport. Rick Danko from The Band gave Louie the moniker “Professor Louie” is joined onstage by band mates Miss Marie (vocals, percussion, and piano) Frank Campbell (bass, vocals) guitar-slinging skills of Todd Mihan and drummer Dan Hickey.

The show & performance by Professor Louie & The Crowmatix featuring Miss Marie and band members was fantastic. Play d 21 songs with 2 encores for total of 23. Started at 8 and ended around 10:20 with about 20 minutes break after first 11 songs. Superb shoe. Happy to be there.

Professor Louie & The Crowmatix began as the studio backing band for Aaron “Professor Louie’s” musical productions for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, The Band. Rick Danko christened him Professor Louie due to his work and friendship with The Band. This GRAMMY-nominated Woodstock, NY group plays 150 shows a year in the US and worldwide. They have performed at the Thunder Bay, London, Windsor, Tondor, Falcon Ridge Festivals, Sellersville Theater, BB Kings, NYC, House Of Blues, LA. Professor Louie has performed twice on The Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise. Professor Louie & The Crowmatix repertoire is steeped in rock ‘n’ roll, blues, Gospel and American roots music, they have 12 studio CD’s on The Woodstock Records label. Their latest recording, Crowin' The Blues will be released, Feb 17, 2017. In 2016 their CD, Music From Hurley Mountain, was voted best concept record & group by Radio Crystal Blue. PL & C have been inducted into Blues Hall Of Fame, New York Chapter and hold a permanent place in the Canada South Blues Museum. “Roots Music Royalty!” Extended Play Sessions - Bill Hurley Professor Louie (Keys-Accordion,Vocals) collaborated with The Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame group The Band for over 16 years. Miss Marie (Vocals-Percussionist-Keys) preformed, recorded with Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson an integral part of Mercury Rev’s Gold Album Deserters Song.
