Michael Francis leads a program connected by friendship. In Ravels Le Tombeau de Couperin, each movement aims to capture the essence of a friend he lost in World War I. Concertmaster Jeffrey Multer on violin and Principal Cello Yoni Draiblate team up for Brahms Double Concerto, composed as a peace offering to a longtime friend. It was Brahms final work. In Enigma Variations including the emotional Nimrod movement Elgar adapts an original tune into 14 musical caricatures of his friends.
