AMMAR 808 Biography
AMMAR 808 is the alias of acclaimed Tunisian producer Sofyann Ben Youssef. Armed with ultra low bass rumble of a TR-808 and fiercely aggressive beats, his latest endeavour ventures into the realms of North African futurism. Joined by three powerful voices from the heart of the Maghreb – Cheb Hassen Tej of Tunisia, Sofiene Saidi of Algeria and Mehdi Nassouli of Morocco – AMMAR 808 & The Maghreb United exposes the illusion of colonial borders and separatism and reinvents roots and tradition to create a mystical musical world driven by an ancient, pulsating beat.
