FR Fùgù Mango est la preuve que l’époque n’est pas à la défiance ni au repli sur soi. Depuis Bruxelles, le combo chimiste assemble et brasse ses mélodies aux pulsations africaines, faisant de la capitale belge le nouveau point de convergence entre l’afro beat et la pop. « On aime autant Danyèl Waro que The Knife, Peter Gabriel que Glass Animals », clame Vince, chanteur de cet ensemble capable de souffler le chaud et le froid avec virtuosité. Les scènes et festivals qu’ils ont écumés (Eurosonic, le Printemps de Bourges, Boomtown, Europavox, le Paléo Festival, Dour Festival, Nuits Botanique, Les Ardentes, Maanrock, ... ou bien une tournée dans les Balkans où ils croiseront notamment Django Django) résonnent encore des coups de boutoir deMango Chicks, premier EP paru en 2016. Les promesses de ce premier opus sont désormais en passe d’être tenues par Alien Love, leur tout premier album. Le voyage sonore démarre sur les terres de Luuk Cox (Shameboy), réalisateur de cet album (architecte entre autres de Stromae, Girls in Hawaii ou Roscoe), il s’est poursuivi entre les mains de Ash Workman qui en a assuré le mixage (et dont les talents de pisteur ont révélé Christine and the Queens ou sublimé tous les albums de Metronomy depuis English Riviera en 2011), et il s’achève enfin par le mastering d’Alex Gopher à qui Alien Love doit son homogénéité. Un premier single voit le jour : BLUE SUNRISE. Une très belle introduction pleine de pas de danse et percussions, dans une production moderne et pop, accompagnée d’un refrain entêtant. With their first EP, 2016’s Mango Chicks, they stormed through numerous shows and festivals (Boomtown, We are Open, Maanrock, Eurosonic, Dour Festival, Les Ardentes, Le Printemps de Bourges, Paléo Festival), up to the Balkans, where they crossed Django Django’s path. Produced by Luuk Cox (Shameboy - the architect of Stromae, Girls in Hawaii, Arsenal among other acts). Mixing duties were taken care of by Ash Workman (who has worked with French breakthrough act Christine and the Queens and on every release by Metromony since 2011’s The English Riviera), while the final mastering was entrusted to Alex Gopher, in charge of bringing its homogeneity to Alien Love. “Blue Sunrise” – and its whispered, heady chorus – deploys eighties-tinged colors after its opening ditty.
