هيفاء وهبي
Haifa; a dazzling beauty, and an international superstar! With her striking charisma, distinguished charm and stunning looks, Haïfa took the world by storm, becoming one of the most sought after artists in the Middle East and beyond. As a young girl in her teens, she always dreamed of a career as a singer, and knew that one day she would be famous. However, she could not have anticipated how colossal her stardom would become.
Since her first appearance to the public, she has conquered everything from the spotlight, media frenzy, and a vast audience across the Arab world. Close to her fans but yet independent and mysterious, she introduced her own style; a unique combination of simplicity and glamor, instigating a change in the image of the music industry and creating a new sensation of self-confidence for women's fashion.
Her energetic presence on stage fires passion and spontaneity, drawing the audience towards her. Haifa comes alive on stage delivering a combined performance of music, dance and style.
Haifa released her latest album "Habibi Ana" on July 4th, 2008. It joins her previous two albums, "Howa El Zaman" and "Baddi Eish", in her ever-growing repertoire.
Her career is full of remarkable achievements:
Haifa first stunned the international media when she appeared at the Cannes Film Festival with Omar Sharif in 2004. In 2005 a formal invitation was sent by the festival committee itself for her to attend again.
Aside from Middle Eastern channels, Haifa has also been interviewed by CNN, Arte TV, and Canal Plus (France). She became the first Arab artist to perform on Italian TV channel Rai Uno during the "Una Notte a Roma" event which took place in Piazza Navona, Rome. It was attended by VIPs, fashion designers, and celebrities from around the globe.
Haifa performed in many concerts and special events in and outside Lebanon. Her performance in Kartaba and Rayfoun, Lebanon reached an audience of over 20,000. She also performed at the historical Carthage Music Festival in Tunisia. At Shaggy's Egyptian concert, Haifa appeared as a surprise guest and danced with him also.
The readers of Al Jamhouria newspaper have elected Haïfa as the 'Best Arabic Young Female Singer', where statistics showed that 4 million people voted her for this title.
Haïfa won the Golden Lion Award in Egypt.
Haifa was awarded Best Video Clip for 2005 for her song "Baddi Eish" from her second album.
Haifa also won the Murex d'Or award for two consecutive years with the title "best artist of the year" 2005 and 2006.
In June 2005, Haifa launched her own jewelry line collection that she designed with world-renowned Lebanese jewelers Mouawad. It is sold throughout the Middle East.
In November 2005, Haifa signed a contract with Pepsi Cola. Haifa had to go to London in order to shoot an advertisement of the above along with International soccer player Thierry Henri. The advertisement will was aired on Arab channels extensively during the 2006 World Cup.
In December 2005, Haifa won personality of the year with 62% of votes on e-magazine Elaph's annual poll.
In late 2005, Reuters chose Haifa as the most beautiful girl in the Middle East.
In February 2006, Haifa performed for the first time at "Muscat Festival". Organizers and all media were so impressed and stunned when more than Two Hundred Thousand people came to see Haifa perform. Muscat has never seen such a huge amount of people and her name was on every single newspaper and magazine who mentioned how successful the event was and how this Lebanese singer was able to break all records.
Haifa is the most photographed Arab artist and has appeared on the front cover of over 200 magazines throughout the Middle East, Gulf countries, Africa, U.K. and the United states featuring her interviews and gorgeous images, earning her the title, 'The Sexiest Woman in the Middle East' by Lounge Magazine.
In March 2006, Haifa was selected following American website Askmen.com (more than 5 million viewers a month) as one of the most 99 most beautiful women in the world. Haifa is ranked 49 so far and is the only celebrity with an Arab nationality on the list (Salma Hayek is of Lebanese origin, but holds a Mexican passport).
In March 2006 as well, Haifa has become a member of the Red Ribbon association who chose Haifa as its ambassador in the whole Middle East and Africa for the fight and awareness against Aids.
In April 2006, International Beauty - Contestant committee gave Haifa an International title "Most beautiful Arab Singer".
For the first time in her career, Haifa will experience and face the big screen. Hollywood along with producer Randa Al Chahal, have chosen Haifa as the leading female actress in their upcoming movie "Too Bad for Them" next to Hollywood actors Harvey Keitel and Billy Zane.
Haïfa's humble and sincere personality has been highlighted by her dedication to charity, performing gratuitously at events in aid of underprivileged children. Haïfa was selected as the representative of the BBC in the Middle East to promote the importance of learning English, identifying Haifa's significant position in the region and acknowledging her mass following of people from all ages.
