Sarah Julia について

Sarah Julia
Sarah Julia is a Dutch folk duo made up of sisters Sarah and Julia, whose debut album The Fear That This Is Real captures the fragile gray area between hesitation and transformation. In fall 2025, the pair traveled from Amsterdam to Woodstock, New York, to record the album with producer Philip Weinrobe (Adrianne Lenker, Florist, Hand Habits). Tracking 12 songs live over six days—often late at night and by candlelight—the sisters embraced a communal, headphones-off approach that favored instinct over perfection, allowing the music to breathe and deepen.
Before music, Sarah and Julia were actors, performing in theater and film across the Netherlands. Raised on the folk records of Cat Stevens and Jim Croce, they eventually found their own voices through guitar; Julia drawn to its warmth, Sarah to mandolin and other “tiny instruments.” Their 2024 debut EP, How Do We Go Back To Being Normal?, explored distrust and shifting family dynamics, followed by 2025’s Only Making It Worse, which traced the slow healing of emotional wounds.
With The Fear That This Is Real, the sisters turn inward and outward at once, writing with unflinching honesty about heartbreak, self-sabotage, insecurity, longing, and acceptance. Trading lines with intuitive ease and luminous harmonies, they examine both sides of love’s fractures, challenging each other to confront deeper truths. Spacious and intimate, their songs balance melancholy with clarity, returning to questions of impermanence and perspective. “I don’t know where I’m going, but I’ll get there,” they sing, offering a steady, reassuring hand into the unknown.
