Camilla Fascina について

Italian singer-songwriter Camilla was born in Vicenza but decided to seriously pursue a career in music after living in Berlin where she experienced the city’s buzzing cultural and music scenes. There she has been and continues to collaborate with Fewjar - she features on their latest album “Until” and will be featured on their upcoming album “Gamma” in May 2018.

In 2016, she released an original song “Juliet”, on all digital platforms. She also has been performing original music and will be releasing new acoustic music in the upcoming year.

Camilla is currently living in Vicenza after returning from Chicago where she simultaneously conducted research for her PhD on black music and wrote her acoustic EP together with Jake Hehir. She debuted with the first single from it, “Juliet,” at Chicago’s FOTA (Festival of the Arts) Spring Fest in May 2016.

Camilla’s other main musical inspiration is David Bowie, and after attending one of her shows, the manager of the Italian David Bowie Bash personally invited her to become the first ever female singer to perform Bowie’s music on that stage.

Her love for Bowie was also shown when she was chosen by Lindsay Kemp (coach of David Bowie, Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel) in 2013 to perform in his version of Romeo and Juliet (“Perché sei tu...?”) at the Teatro Stabile in Verona, Italy. The inspiration she found through working with him led her to release an EP entirely dedicated to David Bowie’s musical genius, “CAMILLA FASCINAted by BOWIE”, in 2015.

It was the first-ever Italian EP featuring Bowie’s songs sung by a female voice, and it also received a mention on David Bowie’s official website. The track listing features some remarkable, creative covers in which she blends her passion and theatricality to celebrate and put her own imprint on David Bowie’s music. Her version of “I’m Deranged” was featured alongside artists such as Elisa, Bluvertigo and Enrico Ruggeri on the compilation “Italian Covers Vol 5 David Bowie - Italians do it Better”.

In January 2016 Camilla performed in London, where she celebrated the release of the video for her EP’s opening track, “Time,” featuring Kemp. This video can be viewed on the Italian media outlet La Repubblica: https://video.repubblica.it/spettacoli-e-cultura/l-ultimo-abbraccio-di-lindsay-kemp-a-david-bowie/224234/223488
Although she is currently writing and performing in English she began her songwriting career in Italian. Her first track “Bambola” won the iTunes & More Digital Store Festival Show in 2013 as the most downloaded single of the compilation on iTunes. “Bambola” also won third place in “La Bella e La Voce” (“The Beauty and the Voice”) a competition held in Saint-Vincent, Italy in the same year. Again in 2013, she took part in the tour “Festival Show” with big names in Italian music: Ron, Cristiano De André, Riccardo Fogli, Simona Molinari, Matteo Becucci, Loredana Errore, Donatella Rettore and many others.
In 2014-2016, she participated in the Italian David Bowie Bash sharing the main stage with Morgan. She presented the evening performance of “Morgan talks about David Bowie” at the Panic Jazz Club and she duetted a jam session with Morgan (Marco Castoldi).
In 2012, she was featured on the album AAVV (Artisti Vari Risuonano i Frigidaire Tango) with big names in Italian music such as Giorgio Canali, Diaframma, Xabier Iriondo, Operaja Criminale and Illenia Volpe.
