In Trance 95

In Trance 95 is an electronic music duo formed in Athens in 1988 by Alex Machairas and Nik Veliotis. Emerging from Greece’s underground scene at a time of limited access to electronic equipment, they established themselves as pioneers of minimal synth and EBM, infused with subtle industrial undertones. Their early releases, such as “Desire to Desire / Brazilia” and the album Code of Obsession (1990), went on to become cult references within the international minimal wave scene.
Interest in their work was reignited in the late 2000s through Minimal Wave Records and Veronica Vasicka, with the archival compilation Cities of Steel & Neon (2011). This release brought In Trance 95 back into the international spotlight and led to new live performances as well as the comeback album Shapes in a New Geometry.
In 2025, In Trance 95 performed their first shows in the United States and Canada and released the EP The Move on Minimal Wave. That same year, they completed new material scheduled for release in 2026, while Minimal Wave announced the reissue of their entire catalogue alongside extensive archival material.
In Trance 95 remain a key reference point of the minimal wave aesthetic, blending analog warmth with futuristic textures—timeless, obsessive, and unmistakably distinctive.
