Kelly Jones

Kelly Jones is a folk/pop singer-songwriter, but her career reflects a kaleidoscope of collaborations beginning in New York City and continuing in L.A. and Portland, OR today. She began by building a loyal following in the East Village clubs, playing frequently at The Living Room and Rockwood Music Hall. Then in 2008, Jones began touring with renowned jazz drummer-composer Brian Blade (Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell), as a featured singer in his acclaimed band project Mama Rosa.

Around the same time, she started collaborating with noted songwriters Mike Viola (Ryan Adams, Jenny Lewis) and Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), which led to her debut album, SheBang!. A classic pop fanatic’s dream, Power Popaholic called the record “a practically flawless 28 minutes of power pop.” Her most recent release Little Windows (2016), a collection of original duets with Teddy Thompson (son of Richard and Linda Thompson), achieved critical acclaim in the US and UK. Rollingstone.com called it “a whole career’s worth of sparkling pop gems and sober country ballads.”

Over the years, her musical collaborations have taken her across the US, Europe and Japan, but in recent years, Jones has found herself staying closer to home. Jones has enjoyed singing for TV and film productions (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Disney), teaching songwriting and performance courses for various institutions (Berklee, Los Angeles College of Music and Cal Poly Pomona), and composing short animation scores for the subscription-based streaming platform, Vooks (now available also on Netflix).
