Mark Foggo's Skasters について
MARK FOGGO is a dynamic performer. His music is best described as modern, bizarre, non-influenced, up tempo ska. The fast catchy songs and sensational live-shows are an unforgettable experience.
Born in Liverpool, England, Mark Foggo began his musical career at the age of fourteen but moved south to London a few years later to seek his fame and fortune as a guitar player. He played around the London pub circuit with a number of different bands, playing mostly rhythm and blues or punk music.
After a disagreement with the English law Mark "escaped" to The Netherlands where he formed "Mark Foggo's Secret Meeting" . He made punk and ska music with 'the Secret meeting' and they went into the studio to record the single "New Shoes" and he released it on his own label "Top Hole"
The song turned out to be a succes and Polydor Records offered them a contract.
With Polydor, the band recorded their first album "Speeding my life away". The album was an instant hit.
After "Speeding my life away" Mark released some more music as a solo artist on various record labels (EMI & BONI) and by this time he was only playing ska, all the punk influences had disappeared and he became a total ska addict.
Mark Brennan from Link Music (an English record label) heard him play and offered him and his new band a record deal. Because the band didn't have a name yet Mark Brennan suggested to promote the band as Mark Foggo's Skasters. In this way it was immediately clear to everybody what kind of music the band played. The first album Mark Foggo's Skasters released was "Ska Pig". Ska pig was a huge hit with the ska-public. Today the album is considered to be a classic in the genre.
After "Ska Pig" Mark Foggo's Skasters have released 9 more CD's. The latest cd
"You Shot Me" contains 12 brand new, original tracks. Worldwide record sales have made Mark Foggo's Skasters one of the planets best known ska acts.
Numerous television and radio appearances built up a big following on the European club circuit. Over the years the band has played over a thousand gigs all across Europe.
