David Jacobs-Strain について

David Jacobs-Strain
David Jacobs-Strain is a fierce slide guitar player, and a song poet from Oregon. He’s known for both his virtuosity and spirit of emotional abandon; his live show moves from humorous, subversive blues, to delicate balladry, and then swings back to swampy rock and roll.

Amazing!
Cozy setting in the woods.
Small venue with amazing bluesy music by David Strand. I would definitely go again to same venue and also see David at any local site.

A very fine duo. Jacobs-Strain, a superb acoustic/slide guitarist and singer-songwriter, and Bob Beach, who accompanies deeply and gorgeously on harmonica, harmonizes, sings a bit, and did a turn playing blues flute, are a powerful team, greater than the sum of their parts. Together, they are a unit, constantly complementing one another. The genre, if it can be called that, is Western bluesy folk-ish, and most of tunes are Jacobs-Strain's or his friends' and mentors' original compositions. Aside from a solid rendition of Steve Stills's lesser-known "Treetop Flyer," their original music will be familiar only to their fans or fans of that small cadre of quality singer-songwriters and musicians who quietly make their livings playing at small venues and cobbling together other musical gigs. For those who know how much great music emanates from this world, too often under the radar of the mainstream, this duo is well worth the trouble. Their talent, sensibilities and passion are very special -- I think of them as the reincarnation, as white folks, of the legendary Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee, crossed with Mary McCaslin. The venue, a house concert, attracted the older set, who were privileged to sit close for two sets. One could feel how Jacobs-Strain warmed up and played, alternately, more eloquently and more fiercely as the second set progressed. There is a reason why this listener -- of more than a half century of various genres of American roots music -- felt that these two recently stole the show at one of the more established regional folk festivals in the northeastern U.S. Seeing and hearing them up close is a joy and a privilege.

A wonderful show! David Jacobs-Strain & Bob Beach charmed a sell-out crowd at this intimate house concert - great songs, great stories! Can't wait to catch them again!
