Westbound Train is a ska band formed in 2001 in Boston, Massachusetts. Their music captures the essence of classic reggae, ska, and rocksteady, blending these genres with a modern touch. The band's name was inspired by the Dennis Brown hit song "Westbound Train".
Their debut album, "Searching for a Melody," was released in 2002. They followed up with their second album, "Five to Two," in 2005, which was notable for featuring guest appearances from Alex Desert of Hepcat and King Django. This album was later re-released by Stomp Records in 2006. The band signed with Hellcat Records, under which they released "Transitions" in 2006 and "Come and Get It" in 2009. In 2022, they released "Dedication," marking a significant return after a lengthy hiatus.
Westbound Train has been active in the touring circuit, participating in events like the Summer of Ska tour in 2006 and the Fall of Ska tour later the same year, sharing stages with bands like Suburban Legends, Big D and the Kids Table, Voodoo Glow Skulls, and Catch 22. Not to mention Vans Warped Tour in 2009.
