Nina June – Biography

Dutch singer and songwriter Nina June creates cinematic pop songs that explore the richness and complexity of human connection. With her distinctive contralto voice, she blends timeless melodies, intimate lyrics and atmospheric soundscapes.

Her most recent album Meet Me on the Edge of Our Ruin (2021) delves into themes of love lost, shifting relationships, fading friendships and the fragile bond between humanity and nature. It followed her critically acclaimed album Bon Voyage and the EPs Shadows & Riddles and Paradigm, whose songs have been streamed more than 54 million times worldwide.

Nina has performed across Europe and North America, from Amsterdam to New York and from Berlin to Milan. She toured Europe as the support act for SYML before embarking on her first German headline tour in 2022. Her music has been featured in international films, television series and commercials. In 2024 she released a collaborative EP with international artists including Old Sea Brigade (US), Emily James (US) and Joshua Hyslop (CA).

Across 2024 and 2025 Nina worked with producer Marcel Tegelaar (Eefje de Visser) and arranger/pianist DeLange on a new body of work. For the recordings she collaborated with a 12-piece string orchestra in London, conducted by Sally Herbert (London Grammar, Mumford & Sons, Florence+The Machine, Lianne La Havas). The first single from this upcoming project, “The Lighthouse (Particles),” will be released on October 3rd, 2025. The song is an ode to the beacons in our lives – the people who give us a sense of home and help us find our course when we seem to have lost it.

Raised in a Dutch seaside town, Nina grew up surrounded by music: her mother introduced her to the voices of iconic singer-songwriters like Tracy Chapman, Eva Cassidy and Annie Lennox, while her father played her the timeless classics of The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. At 17, she left home to study at the Rock Academy in Tilburg.

Nina June’s music is best described as cinematic and melancholic – ranging from intimate and fragile to grand and expansive – often drawing comparisons to artists like Agnes Obel, Lana Del Rey and Kate Bush.
