Great show in Bristol! Beautiful music and stories from Joshua, thank you!

Ye Vagabonds and Joshua Burnside, a great double-bill of contemporary Irish music with deep roots in tradition, at the Sunset Tavern, presented by the Tractor Tavern. Joshua Burnside is one of the best songwriters in the UK and beyond. His songs are dark and deep, filled with humor and honesty, with stories and imagery that conjure hidden meanings and personal significance — they are poetry. Burnside’s performance brings the songs to life; his powerfully expressive voice, understated guitar work, and engaging rapport are fully captivating. He is a true artist and natural performer. Ye Vagabonds was the main act, and most of the audience came for them, and they did not disappoint. With guitars, mandolin, Irish bouzouki, and harmonium (with subtle electronic effects), the three musicians perform unique adaptations of traditional Irish and their own original songs, sweet Irish airs and energetic jigs and reels, with beautiful vocal harmonies and excellent musicianship. The variety of their music and instrumentation made this trio seem like a much larger ensemble. The Sunset Tavern is a surprising jewel of a venue. A tiny little dive bar with a small music hall in the back room, this place is clearly a labor of love and creativity. Funky and filled with carefully selected decor and artifacts, this “neighborhood bar” is worn from use, in the best possible way, and the warm staff and regulars make you feel comfortable and at home. Indeed, this concert could have filled a much larger venue (tickets sold out a month in advance), and it was tight in the small music hall, but the genuine warmth and authenticity of the Sunset Tavern made this concert a truly memorable experience.

Joshua had the entire crown entranced! Such an incredible musician, his lyrics are so intentional and relatable. Can’t wait for the next show :-)

The venue was amazing and the performance was awesome! The staff were great and friendly and even the people attending the show were so kind. Joshua was so kind in listening to me as i am incredibly socially awkward lol I had a really great time!
