SILENCIO is the union of an eclectic group of musicians from countries as diverse as Argentina, Uruguay, Italy, Germany, US, and Cuba, all living in Europe and sharing a passion for Argentine tango. Led by the self-taught pianist, Roger Helou, Silencio is the most admired tango group in Europe. Since 2001, the group has performed at all of the important European tango festivals (Berlin, Paris, Roma, Torino, San Sebastián, Tarbes, Zurich, Lausanne, Amsterdam, Malmö, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo, Katowice, Ljubljana, Zagreb, to name but a few) and has become one of the favorite tango orchestras of musicians and dancers alike -- an orchestra widely known throughout all of Europe. During 2013 Silencio has been performing in the most important places of tango- musical scene of Buenos Aires (Almagro Tango Club, Oliverio Girondo, La Casa del Tango, C.C. Torquato Tasso, Milonga El Canning, La Viruta) finding finally its place also among the actual Argentinian youth orchestras. The group has already published 5 albums ('silencio' 2005, 'Silencio en las almas' 2009, ‘Todo, menos la canción’ 2014, 'Placer y Locura 2020, 'RARO' 2025, 'Milonguero Viejo' 2026), and a DVD ("Live in Berlin" 2007). What Piazzolla himself described as the "mugre" (dirtiness) of the original working-class tango, combined with the finesse of the arrangements of the Argentine pianist Helou, conspire to transform Silencio into an artist's palette of temperament, authenticity subtlety.
