Salin について

Salin
Salin Cheewapansri, simply known as Salin, is a Thai-born, Canadian-based drummer, producer, and composer. From her humble beginnings playing drums on the streets, to being nominated for Best Global Music Album of the year by Juno Awards 2026.
She has been featured on the cover of Tidal’s Best New Jazz and Spotify’s Fresh Finds Jazz playlists.
Her newly released album “Rammana” is a groundbreaking album that merges afro-jazz, funk, and indigenous Thai instruments, forming a new sub-genre that Salin calls “Afro Thai Funk”. This unique blend highlights shared global music traditions and reminds us that music is a universal language, transcending borders and uniting us all in a shared experience of joy and creativity. Through her music, she ponders themes of identity, spirituality, and humanity, all paired with a dose of fun to create a unique sonic journey for her listeners.
The album has received international attention and has been featured on CBC’s Q with Tom Power, NPR’s New Music Fridays, La Prese, the BBC Radio (London) and Bandcamp Album of the Day, among others. The track “Current” from the album rose to the #3 spot on the Spotify Fresh Finds Jazz-Best of 2024 while her single “Si Chomphu” has been featured in the Top 30 chart of Cat Radio (Thailand) and KCRW (Los Angeles). “Rammana” was nominated for a Juno in 2026 for Best Global Music Album of the Year.
Since 2024, Salin has toured the U.S, Europe and Asia, with several sold out shows across the board. She’s had the opportunity to perform her music at world-renown venues and festivals, including appearances on the CHANEL Summer Tour, Winter Jazz Festival (NYC), KEXP, Ronnie Scotts (London), Cotton Club (Tokyo), the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Summer Dayes at Central Park (NYC) and many others.

Absolutely fabulous! Great musicians, hopefully Salin continues to thrive. Can’t wait to see her and the band perform again.

I forgot to post this review. Salin and her band were absolutely wonderful and it was quite the experience! The crowd enjoyed themselves also. It was my 1st experience at a MFA Summer Courtyard Concert and the setting was wonderful. It’s really amazing that MFA gets such talented artists and I’ve already got tickets for 2026.
