I found out that I loved music when I went to the PMEA District Orchestra when I was in 9th grade. That was my first time played in the large symphony orchestra, and I full in love with it immediately. When I was in Taiwan, I was forced by my mom to learn how to play the violin when I was in first grade. From elementary school to middle-high school. We only have the orchestra that only has the strings instruments. So I never had a chance to play in a large symphony orchestra. When I come to the State in Indiana, Pennsylvania. The teacher had different ideas on how to teach me to love the violin. She gave me many opportunities to play for others or play in PMEA District, Regional, and State Orchestras. Those experiences were the things that made me wanted to pursue music as a career.
Our government didn’t have much money invested in music education in elementary school, middle school, and high school. We don’t have that many people have the skills to teach our younger generation about music. I think it is very important to me as a goal to create an environment that lets the younger generation to have a full orchestra experience and expose them to the music. So we can have more musicians or people who love music, and in the future to support the music community.
