Drunk Injuns について

Joey Headbone Restless Spirit (vocals); Stoned Wolf, Wholley Smokkes (guitar); Johnny Yuma (bass); Sittin Duck (drums)

Drunk Injuns were one of the early pioneers of 80s California skate rock, which mixed the punk rock sound with skater mentality. The band wore Native American garb and masks, and played while seemingly possessed by the Indian ghost warrior spirit entities. The mystic messages conveyed through these spirits were said to speak to the center of the audiences' souls.

The first release was a cassette tape, "My Dad Butch," limited to 400 copies and first available at the SkateRock Show (May 30, 1983) then later through mail order. The second release, thought of as the 'debut' of the band, a live recording of their very first show, entitled, "Crimes Against Humanity," was limited to 1000 copies (500 red vinyl and 500 green vinyl.) It was recorded on May 30th 1983 at the On Broadway SkateRock Show. The band's third release, "Frontside Grind," released in 1987, was their only full-length LP. The music of Drunk Injuns can also be found on several Thrasher Magazine SkateRock compilations, namely volumes 1, 2 and 6. The recently released compilation from Alternative Tentacles, "From Where the Earth Now Stands I Will Fight No More, Forever," includes most of these nearly impossible to find recordings.

Most of the band members also played in another early skate rock band, Los Olvidados. They also had another side-project, Ancestors: Gods of Sound, and three of their tracks can be found on the "From Where the Earth Now Stands..." compilation.
