Korey Blake Rose is an American country music singer-songwriter born in Martin, Kentucky and later moved to Lexington, Ky. Though Rose left the Appalachian Mountains at an early age, the Appalachian Mountains remain an important part of who he is. Rose discovered the acoustic guitar at the age of nine, playing the Bluegrass and Gospel he learned from his relatives in Hindman, Kentucky. Likewise, having spent much time on the Rose farm in his father’s hometown, Korey became well acquainted with the singular sound of Keith Whitley. Interestingly, Whitley was raised just 20 miles from West Liberty in the town of Sandy Hook. At the age of twelve, Rose started to sing along with cassette tapes of Keith Whitley, George Strait and Alan Jackson, which contributed to his own unique vocal quality and ability. He has shared the stage with Grammy Award winner LeAnn Rimes, Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie McCoy and Confederate Railroad to name a few. In January of 2011, Rose enlisted with the United States Army. Rose attended Infantry Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He then moved to his first duty station in Fort Lewis, Washington. After only a year he deployed to Afghanistan. After seven months, Rose returned to the United States and moved to Fort Bliss, Texas. Thirteen months later, Rose redeployed to Afghanistan for nine months. In 2015 Rose then moved to Fort Benning, Georgia, where he currently serves in the U.S. Army. During this time Rose has been working with other songwriters across the country. He now plays gigs all along the east coast and recently completed his first EP released September 24th 2016.
