柴咲コウ (Shibasaki Kou) is a Japanese actress and singer. She was born in 1981 in Tokyo, Japan and she started her career at 14 when her talent was discovered by an agent. She has worked in many TV shows and commercials. She's beginning to be more famous thanks to her excellent performance in the movie Battle Royale as Souma Mitsuko. She has reached star status not only in Japan but all over East Asia. She has an impressive filmography and in 2002 embarked on a singing career with her first single, "Trust my feelings". Her singing skills were recognized with her second single "Tsuki no Shizuku", a song used for the movie Yomigaeri, which was one of the best J-Pop hits of 2003.

Since she release her first movie theme song,later she also writes lyrics and sings for other drama or movie theme song, such as Invitation(for Midnight Sun drama), Kage(for Byokuyakou), Katachi arumono(for Socrates in Love drama),Sweet Mom(for Love in mind/Konomune ibbinoaio),Ikutsuno sora(for One Missed Call).

Besides music,she also played in many TV drama and movie, such as Dororo, Maison de Himiko, Orange Days,Good Luck, and so on.
