Process of entering and leaving was smooth and easy, performance was amazing, environment and venue were top tier as well
Maestro Ax performed with precision and verve. There were moments of joy and humor in his performance. My observation was that the orchestra and Mr. Ax were not playing at the same tempo most of the time. Not enough rehearsal time? I don’t know. It is always thrilling to hear him perform.
Emmet and his trio were great. Mr Cohen has respect for those that came before him, an education to fully understand the musical reason they were great and quite enough skill and heart to move Jazz into the future.
Want to see what’s up with him? Check out his YouTube channel. Since lockdown in 2020 he has been posting on Monday nights. Mostly these are concerts from his Harlem residence.
The performance by Emmett, Phil and Kyle was wonderful. Venue was equally enjoyable, a perfect size for this trio. These musicians are the future of jazz. Influenced by giants of the past, they individually and collectively have original spins all their own. Would recommend if they are coming through your town.
Amazing.. only story he didn't tell that I would have loved was Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
Taylor Tomlinson did not disappoint. A great show!
The entire concert was great! However, Lizz Wright is the reason I purchased the tickets. I was excited to share the experience with others. Lizz Wright did not disappoint. Love her voice, her smile and her dedication to lyrics, the music.
My only complaint, if you want to call it that, is that the show went very fast, at only 2 hours, with a 15 minute break halfway through. And you might want to get together with the venue to decide on the protocol for taking photos or videos. The venue's policy was NO videos or photos allowed, but Disney's policy was "we encourage you to post about your experience on social media." So you might want to address that in the future. Otherwise I loved the show. It was comfort food for the ears. The ladies could sing like nobody's business. Altogether a great show.
If you just want to hear Diana Krall sing, then buy every one of her albums.
If you want to hear the Diana Krall Jazz Quartet where everyone in the combo takes turns doing improv solos, then by all means go to her concert.
Her singing seemed off, not very confident. She missed words and phrases. Was it just artistic license?? Unlike 3-4 years ago she barely talked and did not profess her undying love for husband Declan McManus (alias Elvis Costello). She seemed to be under some duress and I don't think it was just feeling sad about her friend Tony Bennett (she mentioned visiting him). Was it just being off-stage for two years? I really hope she's alright. However her piano playing was TOP NOTCH as were all the guitar and bass solos. Perhaps she just loves playing more than singing? I don't know, she won't return my calls. (Joking)
The Kimmel organization, unlike other venues, still has a STRICT mask policy.
I saw them at Radio City in 08ish. The intimacy of this show and the sheer beauty of the audience singing along and in response to Glen was something I have never experienced before. Such talents. And then Mar turns a Hamilton tune into a torch song accompanied with her sister harmonizing! Can't make this stuff up. Pure magic.
Ms. Talese’s concert was sensational! She and her band were captivating and offered an amazing musical experience. Bravo, Ms. Talese!!!
