Wow! This might be my favorite sound musically I've ever heard from any bts incarnation. So cool to hear old tracks worked in a new way and the guitar effects are truly clever and somewhat other worldly.
Mike Krol said he might have been nervous about playing Merge 35 on July 27. We can only hope that he's going to feel nervous every show--he and the band BROUGHT IT! Really fun set in the festival, with a giant ladder in the crowd making an appearance. SUPER ROCK!
To be fair, it's part of Merge 35, the every five year Merge Records festival. AND, it's help in the legendary Cat's Cradle, in Carrboro, North Carolina.
WHAT AN AMAZING EVENT. Over 30 fantastic bands, ALL Merge artists. The Cat's Cradle remains one of the great American music clubs. Merge folks are amazing. Merge bands are amazing. AND, Mike was amazing.
The girls were unaffected genuine and talented poised to rise above the cruel and mediocre swamp of music industry in general. They deserve a bigger stage and I predict that they will rise and shine and have their day and fruition of their hard work and elan. Godspeed
Possibly the most underrated band I have ever seen! You could tell they were having the best time on stage which made it so fun to be in the crowd! I will 100% go to more of their concerts! Absolutely AMAZING LIVE
The show was most excellent! Opener was pretty good. The melvins crushed bullhead, one of my favorites. And boris is always killer. And I got to see boris play the song boris, after which they are named! The venue was great. All in all, a superb evening!!! Highly recommended!
Couldn’t stop swaying swept and tranced me-puppet was unapologetically gawking and relating swell anecdotes. Rap sounded original and had a rhythm like Van Halen figuratively as hard rock genre surprises with Creed and fluff by Black Sabbath but that is a tangent from the unique unaffected vocals and Yamaha, guitar and drum cohesively lip syncing and jamming the hours away. Encore twice or maybe more-vowel less risqué bit in perfect Island English just spurred positive vibes from a thoroughly receptive and harmonious crowd
loved their set & all the other artists’ set too! i got to get a selfie with yasuko & she was so sweet! 🩷💕
Amazing show with one of my all time fave bands, plus amazing openers (3 of them). Not too crowded as it was a Tuesday night but I wouldn't recommend doing all ages if you come back because people started moshing for a minute and there was mad moms and teenagers getting knocked around which wasn't great.
Quadeca & Quickly Quickly were wonderful, this was a dream come true and the intimate venue made it even more special ❤️❤️
There’s no one like Grouper. Her show was intimate and mesmerizing in the best way possible. I was locked to my seat almost unable to move. And that was mostly consistent throughout the whole show. At the end she doesn’t seem to like applause or anything and left quite abruptly. She feels very genuine.
She performed with Animal Sun and Niki Demar they all preformed well, and the crowd was very into them. I had a great experience. Even the Cats Cradle was a bit small but wonderful place.
Very strong finish and two much-appreciated encores! The first half was dominated by lesser known tunes which worried me that the big hits might be ignored. The band joked at one point they got the hint after playing a newer tune - "no new songs!" - but that wasn't it. Happy to hear new material, just hit us with the stuff we did come for a little sooner please!
Hoodoo Gurus sounded awesome and played just as well after 40+ years of being a band! I heard many songs I’ve never heard and plenty I have. I was pleased that I was able to call Cats Cradle ahead and reserve a stool because I have a chronic back problem and can’t stand for long time.
Amazing lineup with Ada Lea kicking things off, then Tasha as the tasty middle, and Nilufer having a stand-out band. I'm torn as to whether the songs that weren't on Painless were as good, but I just didn't know them as well. Or, if her songwriting is getting better. Probably both, but I think it's more that she got better. I hope she keeps coming to NC. The fans were clearly into it.
This was a kickass show! Samantha Fish has an incredible voice and play a mean guitar. Anyone can have skills but her heart and her whole being in addition to those skills is what makes her an exceptional musician. Her band is excellent.
Cat's Cradle is my favorite venue. It's intimate with good acoustics.
Staff is great. Drinks are reasonably priced and bathrooms clean.
One of the best shows I’ve ever seen! (And it was such an intimate venue!)
When leaving, I overheard so many people saying that it was an amazing show.
All of the performances were A1. Lena Jackson, Shame, Grand Puba and of course KRS One aka The Teacher, The Blast Master, The EMCEE, Chris. I was super excited to see Grand Puba and he was with one other member of Brand Nubian which was a pleasant surprise. Lena Jackson surprised me. I never heard of her but her music was excellent and her performance was well polished. Shame's performance was well received by the audience. They did an awesome job. KRS One was lively. His energy was over the top. I really enjoyed myself.
One of the most memorable nights of my life, I’ve witnessed an end to one of the greatest eras in music history!
One of the best shows ive ever been to. Went there for Daughters. Show Me The Body ended up being the best band there. Good sound system too.
Let Light Overcome The Darkness is the best tour I've seen from OLN. They impress me everytime. They don't have a label, they do everything themselves with the help of their patreons!
Our Last Night is one of the BEST bands and performers in my opinion. Their sound is alt punk rock with a side of scream. The perfect balance of hard, fun & love. They are the best guys and always make sure I'm sitting in a safe place. I've been disabled since before meeting them and I'm always taken care of.
