This band really rocked the place. I like them more now after having seen them live. I just discovered them a month before the show and luckily caught them when they came to town. The bassist and drummer have such high energy. The singer guitarist knows how to shred and make his guitar sing. I'm a fan for life. I enjoyed every song. Very happy to have discovered this talented group.

Thank you Waterboys for an incredible night at the Belly Up. You came out with a roar for your opening song and took us on a 2 hour of magical music tour riding the tides of your amazing talents. Everyone in the crowd knew that they were being treated to a special night of live music in the intimate, legendary setting of the Belly Up. Watching you all thoroughly enjoy each other's skills and creativity was truly a gift for all of us who were there. So, thank you for making Saturday night at the Belly Up one that we will always treasure and for keeping us out past midnight.

I have been begging for the SD's to come to San Diego and finally they did. I have been a fan since 2008. You think we only like surf music? Not true. We love super musicianship and vocals. It was a privilege to get to see and year them at the legendary Belly Up Solana Beach, Ca. Don't stay away. You have a lot of fans here. Once again thank you. Sonny

The Belly Up is always a great venue to see a show. Kurt Vile connected to the audience through his music, doing little if any commentary between songs. He and his band were engaging from the opening chord to the closing note. I wouldn't hesitate to get tickets to see him again when he returns. The selection of the warm up band, Lilliana Villines, was an excellent choice. Villines and her band shared something both in performance style and composition with a vein of Kurt Vile's music.

This was AMAZING!! I had never been to the Belly Up before and I’m still an awning over what a fantastic music venue it is. Moving past that, I have seen Martin Sexton before and know how fantastic he is. This show certainly held up and in fact was the best show I’ve seen of his to date. He opened up playing the Abby Road record with fun personal stories of his journey with each song. After a brief intermission, he came back and in his stylistic, personal and incredibly creative way, entertained thoroughly. The sounds and precision with which he sings and plays his single guitar is magical. If you get a chance to go see him, do it!

The concert was amazing! So upbeat! It was wonderful to hear all the old Herman's Hermits songs sung by the one who made them famous. I heard the band over 20 years ago at the San Diego County Fair, but I thought this concert was even better. I was impressed by the vocal range of Peter Noone and enjoyed his imitation of other artists. Thank you, Peter, for your 63 years of magical entertainment!

Absolutely fabulous! The talent and showmanship onstage was amazing! Although I've been to Billy Nation shows multiple times, I've never seen the duo with Kenny (as Elton John). WHAT a show!! Four of us attended and had the best time. It was the first time to the Belly Up which also made a great impression. Will definitely see this band again (and again) and will look for another opportunity to come to the Belly Up.

Excellent show with a mixture of old and new tunes with some surprising choices from the RT repertoire. Particularly liked the cover version of The Byrds' Bells of Rhymney and The Band's The Weight. His grandson on rhythm guitar was impressive too. A solid 2 hour set with RT's eclectic humour punctuating the proceedings. A totally enjoyable concert for both the old h******e RT fan and for more recent ones.

Fantastic tribute band and show of professionalism. Fan Halen takes you on a visual and audio EPIC trip back in time to the original Era of the band and are also excellent musicians! 👏 Thank you, Fan Halen, for delivering the AWESOME music of the MIGHTY Van Halen that we grew up with and still adore to these days! I love Shhhhh! Molly & Rheanna are two of the most creative and talented musicians I have ever known! I loved their solo work, and I have to say the synergy of their collaborative song writing has been amazing! Their songs touch the heart with soulful harmonies, stuck song syndrome melodies, and lyrical artistry that is rare to find! I try to see them play as often as I can! The Belly Up Tavern is a great venue. I saw Michelle Branch here last year, and Debbie Gibson played here as well.

My wife asked if I wanted to go with her and co workers to see the show. I honestly wasn't expecting much and to my surprise Tom & his band killed it. Very fun & entertaining. Belly up was a great comfort feel for my first as an over 50 SD native. I'll go next time they are in town for sure. Maddie's voice.... Epic. Every member deserves big kudos, we saw y'all! Thank you, fantastic night.

Melissa really showed off her guitar and harmonica licks. I wish there had been more of that - she had maybe 3-4 long guitar solos and one long harmonica solo. After the first long solo, I turned to the person standing behind me and said "holy s**t!", to which she said "Right?" She has some terrific guitar skills - I think when she's going for it (ready for the flames...), she outdoes Bonnie Raitt. She did a few songs she called "raunchy" or some such, but she didn't do my favorite raunchy song of hers: Meet me in the back: "First show me yours, maybe I'll show you mine." I always say, show me mine and I'll show you yours, but it's her song! ;-) Her voice has that quality that makes every song hers...I just love her!

First time seeing Colin & band. Really good show. Only things I would have liked is a few less covers in the set and more of his own tracks which are great. Also, it wasn’t very full and he didn’t come out to meet after. Only had his latest release for sale at merch for $20, then sent a few backstage to be signed and sold for $30, but you don’t get to shake his hand and have him sign in front of you.

The last remaining original member of The Marshall Tucker Band, Doug Gray, should turn over all lead vocal duties to other band members because quite frankly he no longer has the range &/or ability to sing with any clarity, making it almost impossible to understand the vocals of any song he sang. Doug Gray obviously lends a lot to the band, i.e., a direct connection to the original band, nostalgia, a seasoned spokesman for the band & a keen ability to connect to various audiences while on tour. And as talented as each of the other band members are, the lengthy solo performances throughout the concert were just that, too long.

It was my birthday. I had messaged them requesting my fave song - Bird in a House! I saw about 8 friends who have never seen the band. They all loved it!! The band included “Bird” in the lineup! Wow! Was I happy! I took a recording of it and treasure it! I also bought a show shirt to add to my collection. Best birthday ever!

Pros -exceeded my expectations! All great musicians, all familiar songs. Cons - C. Cross read lyrics off an iPad, Todd spent a fair amount of time off stage (but when he was on he was “ON”!). I really appreciate the two musical directors and drummer (Steve Ferrone was a nice surprise for me). Jason Scheff almost never left the stage holding down bass and vocals including his two Chicago covers. Todd sang “Tomorrow Never Knows” which made me super happy and it comes after his pair of songs. Other highlights for me - opening with “Drive my Car”, “If I Needed Someone”, “Only Sleeping and “Dr Robert” Other covers “25 or 6 to 4” , “No Matter What” and especially “Band on the Run” with the intro.

I have literally never seen anything like the Sons of Kemet. I couldn't tell if I was watching pure art come to life or listening to the 4 band members run a marathon. They played for a solid 2 hours without any breaks, 11/10 intensity almost the entire time apart from one break when Shabaka Hutchings played a Shakuhachi for an improvised solo without the rest of the group, giving the drummers some reprieve. Similarly, Theon Cross ripped a solo without the rest of the group while Tom Skinner nodded and Hutchings lit a smudge in the background. The musicianship of SOK is unparalleled; I found myself laughing, crying, astounded most of the time. But, this is not Steve Vai playing really fast music and impressing stadiums. SOK music is deep cut, beautifully and painfully human, it is drums and wind with nothing else, no effects or samples or electronics or amplifiers. They are massive, can't recommend enough.

These boyz are absolutely amazing! So professional, polished and should be on a big stage. Their creative and collaborative writing, harmonies melodies everything all together makes them one of the most outstanding bands I have ever seen. We are so lucky to have them in North County San Diego, although I'd love to share them around the world as they deserve to be. Can't wait for them to go back to Belly Up!

Absolutely amazing! This Band has been together almost 20 years. They are still evolving, growing, keeping their performance new and fresh. In the encore, they did a new song they’d been working on for a year. Of course a “new” LOVE song. I loved the practice session, Dennis and Jamie posted last summer. I am very ecstatic about their results . I want it to be my love song for when I am with “the Love of my day life”. Dennis and the Sharks are over the Moon! Love your music! Looking forward to next gig. DQ and the Sharks did two gigs this day. Thus gig was second. They had every bit the energy at this one as the afternoon High energy is one of the things they do extremely well!

Young Dubs delivered another high energy show. Audience was dancing from start to end, and singing along with many of the Irish tunes. You always leave a Dubs gig feeling happier than when you started. Great spirit!! Belly Up is a favorite venue - all about the music. Outstanding sound and easy to be up close on the floor dancing near the band.
