Göteborgs Symfoniker

Göteborgs Symfoniker bildades 1905 och är idag Sveriges Nationalorkester. Hedersdirigent är Gustavo Dudamel från Venezuela, en av vår tids största dirigentbegåvningar. Under dirigenten Neeme Järvis ledning 1982-2004 gjorde orkestern en rad internationella turnéer samt ett 100-tal skivinspelningar och etablerade sig bland Europas främsta orkestrar. Detta ledde till att Göteborgs Symfoniker 1997 utsågs till Sveriges Nationalorkester. The National Orchestra of Sweden Gothenburg Symphony, called “one of the world’s most formidable orchestras” by the Guardian, has toured in Europe, the USA, Japan and the Far East and performed at major music centres and festivals throughout the world. The celebrated Venezuelan Gustavo Dudamel, born in 1981, started his tenure as the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director (succeeding Mario Venzago) in the autumn of 2007, and from 2012/13 he is Honorary Conductor.
