Pale Ape

Originally formed in June of 2011 as a trio of Brian "Hicksmokey", Brett Lynch, and Gabriel Ro-Jo we were focusing on more traditional straight up punk briefly using the name "The Self-Congratulators". Just three old buds who had known each other from the SF Nightclub scene where we had all worked together for over a dozen years. In December of 2011 Brett had a devastating car accident and was not able to play drums anymore. Brian and Gabe nearly called it. After some time to clear our heads, B & G decided to seek a new drummer and in mid February 2012, David Abell (Skyscraper Mori) joined forces. David and Gabriel had gone to college together and D & B had both grown up in the same Colorado scene so the energy was good. Jamming, recording, and shows ensued but in April of 2013 David decided to spend more time with his family and again B & G were searching for a new drummer (Spinal Tap much?). In August of 2013 Matt "Cap'n" Butler formerly (Nero Order and Skin Horse) answered an add and the chemistry was rock solid. The ole Pale Ape just keeps on with the shenanigans! We like to stomp our feet, shake our heads, and shout into the microphone!
