Description du concert
Alphabet Rockers, the “Bay Area’s premiere hip hop family collective” (KPFA-FM), will get you up and dancing with your kids as the band – led by founders Kaitlin McGaw and Tommy Shepherd, with a rotating cast of musicians and guests joining them -- delivers a funky fresh collection of educational songs mixing pop, rock, soul, and hip-hop rhythms. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, "Alphabet Rockers tackle issues of race and diversity while inspiring a love of hip hop." This is an intergenerational dance party where the performers' infectious energy and hip hop grooves get kids jumping and head nodders rocking out - all set to educational lyrics about complex cultural topics and learning goals. Today’s participatory program features arts and crafts, beatboxing and dancing , with music from the Rockers’ award-winning albums. They also have an iPhone app and a performance schedule that brings them all over the country reaching thousands of children each year. The Rockers’ song, “Dynamite,” was named a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
