Rory Tyer Band is the featured artist at Gardner-Webb University's annual anti-sex-trafficking awareness and fundraising event. Tickets are $10 at the door ($5 for GWU students) and proceeds benefit Challenging Heights, which promotes youth and family empowerment and children’s rights to education and freedom from forced labour in Ghana. Rory began writing very terrible songs when he was young. Eventually his songs improved, he moved to Chicago from Virginia, and he met the rest of the band. Everything else is sweet sonic history. Rory Tyer Band sounds like a cross between the best parts of Third Eye Blind, the most nostalgic parts of Dave Matthews Band, and the most soulful parts of RayLamontagne.
