Biographie de Wasp Summer

Following the musical leylines from Melbourne to Berlin in 2009 gave Wasp Summer the courage to debut her solo project at bars, openings and rent parties. If the lush orchestration of Wasp Summer's 2012 alt.country-rock debut 'Close as a Slow Dance' was the remnant rainforest of her Australian years, you could imagine that she has trekked out along the old railway lines, beyond the last sodium streetlights, to birth her new songs on the stark, bright plains. With her bass/drums/guitar trio, Wasp Summer strips back to grinding bass, taut drums, chiming guitar and that wild, adventurous voice. The melancholy of the last album has dried up, but not the melody. The songs are about resilience and breaking with the past. Hot Engine walks away from emotional nostalgia. Oh Land Oh Lover calls for the sun after the darkness of the European winter. Two Horses fights isolation with a post-punk energy. Reviews for Wasp Summer: “Like Aretha Franklin fronting Sonic Youth" - Mark Steiner "LIke Björk swallowed a sexy cat." - Emilie Zoey Baker “[her] tensile voice sits somewhere between Kristen Hersh and Chrissie Amphlett.” — Dom Alessio, whothehell.net “[she] channels Patti and PJ in equal measure” — Daniel Zugna, Beat Magazine “[she] has the sound of an earlier PJ Harvey and Björk, and can go from belting it out to easily sliding into a high pure note with ease and perfection... weaving her raw emotions, and at times applying her unsettling pop melodies to the mixture... leave you touched with awe and definitely moved” – Sylvie Stern, BMA All Souls, welcome. The first Wasp Summer record 'Close as a Slow Dance' is available at all good online retailers. http://waspsummer.bandcamp.com
