Artist bio
ActeSix is a French music collective founded in 2020 by violist and artistic director Samuel Hengebaert. Bringing together performers, singers, directors, dramaturgs and visual artists, the ensemble develops original productions that place dialogue at the heart of musical creation.
Rather than presenting concerts, ActeSix creates immersive performances where music, theatre, literature and visual arts intersect. The ensemble explores connections between historical and contemporary repertoires, giving equal importance to well-known masterpieces and forgotten voices. Its projects invite audiences to experience music as a living, shared encounter, capable of resonating with today's social, political and environmental questions.
Adaptability lies at the core of ActeSix's identity. Whether performing in concert halls, theatres, heritage sites or public spaces, the collective designs productions that can evolve according to each context while maintaining the highest artistic standards. This flexibility has led to the development of innovative touring models, including environmentally responsible itinerant projects that rethink how music travels through territories and communities.
Alongside its artistic activity, ActeSix conducts research into new models of production, dissemination and audience engagement. By combining artistic excellence with social commitment, the collective seeks to build lasting connections between artists, venues, audiences and local communities.
Through ambitious interdisciplinary projects, ActeSix is establishing itself as one of the emerging voices of a new generation of European ensembles, committed to imagining sustainable, inclusive and deeply human ways of making music.
