Join us for a night of ecstasy as Salentino electronic/folk band Kalàscima in collaboration with Canadian folk/alternative artist Andrea Ramolo take us on a voyage to southern Italy and beyond.
Kalàscima featuring Andrea Ramolo is an exciting international collaboration of world music in the Italian language featuring internationally renowned southern Italian electronic/folk band Kalàscima and multiple Canadian Folk Music Award nominee and alternative songwriter Andrea Ramolo. The musical collaboration and studio album The South served as the soundtrack for Ramolo’s award-winning music documentary by the same name starring the band. Last summer, the collaboration headlined Vancouver Folk Music Festival, played Calgary Folk Festival, Northern Lights Festival, Harbourfront Centre in Toronto, Ness Creek Music Festival, and more. Their joint show was created with the intention of introducing audiences to the ancestral folk music of southern Italy... but with a twist.
Kalàscima blends Italian hip hop, folk, traditional, Balkan, and other Mediterranean sounds with electronic music. With Andrea's soulful voice and connection to the traditional music and dance of southern Italy, this project promises to get crowds jumping and dancing in a Mediterranean-style trance. Goat-skin hand drums, Italian bagpipes, accordion, Bouzouki,, baritone sax, multiple harmonies, drums, synth, and electronic sounds as well as the soul and passion of southern Italy is returning to Canada this summer!
Come celebrate the famous Italian holiday of Ferragosto on Revival's dance floor Thursday, August 15. COMPLIMENTARY GELATO by Toronto's famous Mizzica Gelato will be available during the show. This is an event you won't want to miss!

Biographie de KALASCIMA
Explosive, energetic, captivating, Kalàscima is one of Italy’s hottest bands. Some friends from Salento (Apulia, Italy), grown up with the melodies and the hypnotic rhythms of the magical ritual of Taranta, reinvent the tradition with a wild
mix of electronics and lysergic beats with original melodies and folk atmospheres. The dialect of Salento, English and Griko create an imaginary bridge between the Apulian music and the international scene.
The live set is powerful and energetic and features many traditional and fascinating instruments (bagpipe, ciaramella, launeddas, tambourine, accordion), a spectacularly vast array of percussions, thrilling vocal and modern instruments (laptops and synthesizers) to create an original sound.
It is the antique that meets the modern with an explosive result.
Kalàscima are conquering the audience all over the world, their sound has catapulted them to the international scene and brought them in festivals the likes

Tours in Australia, Ecuador, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, China, India, USA, Israel, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Albania, Croatia, Slovenia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Estonia, Latvia, Giordania made a solid international reputation to the Italian band. In June 2019 the band opened the Patti Smith’s Italian concert, earning the attention of the international rock star that praised the stage energy of the band.
The album Psychedelic Trance Tarantella (Ponderosa, 2014) placed 1st in the World CMJ Radio Chart (after two months in top 10) and in April 2015 placed 6th in the World Music Chart Europe. The album is also proud to present the artistic collaboration of Ludovico Einaudi, playing the piano in the song ‘Due mari’.
Kalascima’s music and concerts were on the most important radio network, such as ABC Australia (AU), RTHK (Hong Kong), WDR (DE), RTBF (BE), RSI (CH), Radio 3 RAI (IT). In November 2015 the band was on the cover of Trad Magazine in France.
