Biographie de The Hyperdrive Kittens
The Hyperdrive Kittens are BACK with more sass, distortion & playfulness than ever. Swinging riffs, pop-punk hooks and drivin' drums bring crowds to their feet, coupled with Glitter Kitten's Burlesque, Rocky Horror, Torche inspired live performances -- good times!
"The Hyperdrive Kittens hits those classic punk and rock sweet spots that touch on a theatrical style and a ton of character which is what this band is really all about.”
-Buzz Slayers
These Bay Area based Kittens just released a brand new single, Rocky Road, along with the music video which premiered on SoundwavesTV. Rocky Road is the first single from their upcoming EP--The Meow Factor--due February 2023.
Described in the 90's as charming deviates and "rock that recalls both the Ramones and the Ronettes, the lovely high harmonies - backed by grungy guitars and bitchin' 2 and 4 rim shots that would make even Phil Spector a little green with envy." -Billy Lavay
The Kittens played mostly in San Francisco at clubs including DNA Lounge, Paradise Lounge, Nightbreak & 6th Street Rendezvous, often sharing the stage with bands like the White Trash Debutantes, Screaming Bloody Marys and Pansy Division. The Outpunk label released their second 7" with Rock N' Roll Drag Queen and Addiction, with additional compilations released on Munster Records.
Years pass with various line-up changes, hiatus taken by singer Jenene (and even a band split birthing Rabid Rat Fondue). Ultimately though, the Kittens reunite in 2015 only to unexpectedly lose their leader, Lee Nails, shortly after the 2016 album release of Back To The Alley.
Fast forward to now --- Lee's wild creative spirit and music prowls on with a reformed and amplified gLitter of Kittens fronted with founding front-woman Jenene Curtis aka Glitter Kitten, Marta Bulaich formerly on bass now ripping guitar riffs, Tymber on drums and newest Kittens Rob Niedel, bass and Tommy Lafferty, the Axeman on lead guitar. Meee-ow!!
