Description du concert
On Wednesday June 5th I'm celebrating the release of my EP "How To Break a Heart" at 1971 sounds. 1971 Sounds is a recording studio in Kirkwood Atlanta owned and operated by GRAMMY award winning audio engineer Todd Lyons (Maverick City, Steven Stanley, RYLY,) and Mitch Parks (Ed Sheeran, Patrick Droney, Lennon Stella). Located in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta just a short distance from downtown, 1971 specializes in live recordings and bespoke artist experiences. 1971 looks to not only grow the music industry in Atlanta but also the musical community. A show at 1971 Sounds is not like a show at a traditional venue. It's a chance to hang with the artist and create a community experience. Desmond Myers is an Atlanta-based indie singer-songwriter and producer. His music is bolstered by a smooth understated tenor voice, and groove-fueled arrangements with earnest lyrics. Whether behind a guitar or a synthesizer, his music is full of restraint and moodiness. Desmond released his debut album “Shadowdancer” in late 2021 with it’s lead single “Playing with Fire” receiving over 4 million plays on streaming platforms. Throughout 2023 he has released multiple singles “Take a Bow” “How to Break a Heart” “& "Comfort Zone”, his follow up EP “How to Break a Heart” will release on June 5th. Parker Wierling will open the night with an intimate set. Fresh off his singles "Tricks" and "Freakin Out" via Athens, Based label We Bought a Zoo Records, an accomplished actor and host of the podcast "On That Note", Parker makes relatable and thoughtful indie rock with a charasmatic delivery. Date: June 5th, 2024 Location: 1971 College Ave, Atlanta Georgia Time: 7:30-9:30 Tickets: $20

Biographie de Desmond Myers

Desmond Myers is an American singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist who has spent his life between Europe and the United States.

While growing up on a small farm in Statesville, North Carolina, Desmond learned to appreciate the sounds of 70’s folk and rock music from his late father. As a teenager he became fascinated with R&B, and hip hop. Through a chance encounter with German/Sri Lankan producer Nicholas Balachandran (Bala Mandala) he moved to Europe at the age of 18 landing support slots on full European tours for several artists, making his way across the continent through hundreds of performances.

He eventually landed in Paris, France where we joined the French band Her as a guitarist and keyboardist, touring across the continent until the bands demise in 2019. In 2020, Desmond gained unexpected recognition with his single "Playing with Fire," which has amassed over 3 million streams on Spotify. In 2021 he was selected to represent Paris and Île-de-France at France's annual Printemps de Bourges festival where he was selected and performed an evening slot at the festival. Shortly following this performance he released his album "Shadowdancer" and the single "Shadows" followed by a European tour which included a sold out release show at the iconic venue La Maroquinerie.

Building upon the success of his debut, Desmond is now gearing up to release new music. For his latest releases Desmond wanted to take things back home and work on music in the states for the first time since he was a teenager.

The first single, "Take a Bow," was produced by Louis Johnson (LONAS, Mackenzie Porter) and Reed Beiren (GAYLE, James Droll) in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Take a Bow” releases September 14th with an accompanying music video followed by a full band run of east coast dates.

Praise for "Shadowdancer" (debut album):

“an exciting debut led by Desmond’s powerful voice” - Rolling Stone (3 1/2 stars)
"a compelling journey for this debut project" - Wonderland
"The production itself is remarkably sparse, but when laced together with Myers' rich falsetto, becomes a self-guided, innovative R&B tapestry." - The Line of Best Fit
