Nyala is on a continuous search for the balance between light and darkness. They drift towards happiness, while at the same time they dive into the depths with their songs about an insecure future, slightly chaotic lives and musings.
Nyala’s debut album consists of impressionistic music that paints cinematic images of introspection, gravity and melancholy in a seemingly beautiful world. Their music is just like their personal dynamic. Airy, cheerful and fun. Playful and interactive with space for meaningful conversations.
A diverse record, with a joint vision overarching all the different atmospheres of the album. Sometimes with doubtful thoughts about life, which they translate to their music and wherein they challenge each other. Reflecting on their life experiences so far and looking forward to what’s ahead, they share their music with you.

More than meets the ear
Much like a flame, Nyala’s music is an ever changing and moving concept. It can flicker and smoulder, with lots of tension, low in dynamic, but it has the possibility of growing into fiery improvisations. A melody, a rhythm, a pattern, a lyric, an atmosphere. All of these aspects and more are used in their music. Steady and repetitive or completely free and improvised, like a flame, dancing high and low or staying put for a little while. Casting shadows that show the reality in a different light.
Nyala performed in 2022 in Italy as part of Mittelfest in Cividale del Friuli, they also played at the Carinthischer Sommerfest in Austria as winners of CS under 30. Nyala also performed in the Netherlands, among other places the Roode Bioscoop in Amsterdam, Oranjewoud Festival, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven and November Music.
Since then, Nyala has recorded their debut album ‘A Way of Life’ at the recording studio Fattoria Musica - Osnabrück, which will be released in spring 2024.
