Biographie de Nicky Phillips
Confessions wrapped in an indie-folk-pop style...
Born and bred in London, Nicky Phillips felt the pull to move north, writing and sharing her open-hearted songs through intimate performances across North West England.
Although Nicky had previously been active on the music scene, it was 2021 that pulled her back with her first ever release and self-titled debut EP with sold out shows in both Cheshire and London. The EP saw success in ‘Home’, which was a semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition and was featured on Indie Folk Central’s first ‘Women of Indie Folk’ compilation. Another song from the EP, ‘The Dark’, was featured on BBC Music Introducing. Nicky has since released an intimate song about grief ('Flowers'), a powerful piano-led track (‘Tell Me’) and her most recent folk-inspired single ‘Old Oak Tree’, a song about finding someone who will stand with you through life’s trials.
In the North, Nicky performs regularly around Manchester (Matt & Phred’s, The Whiskey Jar, The Fitzgerald, to name a few) and has performed at prestigious venues in London (The Bedford, the Southbank Centre, The Troubadour). At the end of 2022, an exciting opportunity resulted in Nicky headlining a show at CCFN in Niamey, Niger – jointly hosted by the British and French Embassy. Nicky has also performed at larger events including the Words and Music Festival, Cheshire Fest and Knutsford Music Festival.
Nicky is currently recording her second EP and continuing to work remotely with Canadian producer Joel Schwartz on her next single. She continues to perform in the North West & beyond and is currently planning her first UK tour for 2024.
