Biographie de Insan Insan

INSAN INSAN is a brazenly electric duo consisting of Turkish singer Sibel Durgut and French-US producer Thomas Attar Bellier (Al-Qasar). The duo’s deep energy is the soundtrack for a world in flux, combining the inherent beauty of Turkish scales, the intensity of electronic beats and the thrill of rock’n’roll.

Electric saz riffs support ecstatic Turkish vocals in Turkish, which bitingly question the legitimacy of political leaders and advocate freedom, equality, and women empowerment. “INSAN” means “human” in Turkish, Arabic, Farsi, and Hindi.

This “human-human” duo’s irresistible glamor intersects with a wild rock’n’roll production style and makes way for a new, provocative, and electrifying approach to psychedelia and global sounds

Thomas Attar Bellier is the founder of “Arabian Fuzz” collective Al-Qasar (Glitterbeat Records), which has toured 5 continents and notably appeared at Sziget, Pukkelpop, Lowlands, and WOMAD. As a musician and producer, he boasts collaborations with some of the greatest minds in contemporary Arab music (Dina El Wedidi, Emel Mathlouthi), rock’n’roll (Jello Biafra, Lee Ranaldo), and free jazz (Sonny Simmons, William Parker).

Sibel Durgut, who also performs with Al-Qasar, is a classically trained singer and multi-instrumentalist and the only female kaval (a folk Turkish flute) player on the international scene. As a young singer, she refined her craft by touring the best spots in the Turkish live circuit.
