Dasan and Eloquent Soul Christopher Massenburg, better known as Dasan Ahanu, is a public speaker, organizer, curator, educator, poet, spoken word artist, educator, songwriter, and emcee, and loyal Hip Hop head born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is co-founder and managing director of Black Poetry Theatre, a Durham based theatre company that creates and produces original poetry and spoken word based productions. As an active participant in poetry slam, Dasan has competed regionally and nationally as a founding member and coach of Durham, NC’s own Bull City Slam Team. In 2010 and 2014, Ahanu led the Bull City Slam Team in winning the Southern Fried Southeastern Regional Poetry Slam, the largest regional poetry slam in the country. He also led the team to a 3rd place finish at the 2010 National Poetry Slam and a 2nd place finish in Group Piece Finals at the 2012 National Poetry Slam. Alter Ego Alter Egos Band was birthed out of Greensboro, North Carolina, in September of 2015, with the intentions of highlighting and showcasing the diverse talents of female entertainers in the city; and breaking barriers to the perceptions of a female-dominated stage presence. The All-Female, Front Line Band, brings a unique style of entertainment through the eclectic sounds of funk, jazz, neo-soul, R&B, and rock. Commanding and captivating audiences while prompting them to dance to the dynamic sounds and beats of GoGo. Alter Egos Band has had the honor of presenting high energy shows to various audiences, performing for Major Sporting Events, Universities, Private Occasions, and Community Celebrations such as CIAA, WSSU, NCA&T, Sistars of Juneteenth, and for the second year since inception, the City of Greensboro Fun Fourth Festival. The incredible ladies of Alter Egos, backed by an amazing group of musicians and artists, consistently aim to represent empowerment, strength, and energy as they continue to construct a variety of, cutting-edge performances with a theatrical twist.
