Her music is a conglomerate of Ghanaian folk songs and Afropop, enriched with an energetic and exciting dance performance. When Wiyaala fell into the eye of Rita Ray of BBC's "Global Beats" in 2014, she had a tremendous opportunity, becoming one of Africa's leading international musicians performing at many major events and festivals around the world. Among the most important; Commonwealth games (Australia), SummerStage (America), WOMAD UK, The African Union (Morocco), Welcome to the Village (Netherlands), Afro-Phingsten (Switzerland), Riddu Riddu (Norway), Kequally Africa Festival (Germany). Her successful musical performance is also driven by numerous awards: - Best Ghanian Cultural Act, Ghana Music Awards UK 2021 - Woman of the decade, Womans choice awards Africa 2020 - Artiste of the year, Ghana Arts &; Culture awards 2019 - BBC's Celebrated African Women, BBC News 2018 - Most promising Artiste in Africa/Revelation of the African Continent, All Africa Music Awards AFRIMA 2014. Her collaboration with the Slovenian all-star band "The YagaYagas" began in 2019. Although the global pandemic interrupted their cooperation for a moment, before performing at the famous WOMAD (UK) festival in 2023, the band reunited to spark their creative spark. This revival led to a joint recording project; album "Segerige", which will be released this year. In January 2024, their collaboration was crowned with an expedition to Ghana, where they performed a short but extremely high-profile concert tour. Join us and experience an unforgettable musical delicacy. "Ghana says hello" and see you!

Biographie de Wiyaala

Wiyaala, which means “the doer” in her Sissala language, is from Funsi in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Her music draws on West African Folk traditions and contemporary Afropop.

An irrepressible extrovert since childhood, Wiyaala is an African star who never fails to excite and inspire love wherever she performs. Wiyaala has received plaudits from WOMAD UK, SummerStage 2022 NYC, The Commonwealth Games 2018, The African Union and numerous festivals throughout Europe after impressing BBC broadcaster Rita Ray on the BBC World Service’s “Global Beats” programme in 2014.

“Feisty is not the word – she is a powerhouse in the mode of a young Angelique Kidjo, effervescent and funny, she rocked the crowd and got a great reception. One to watch.” - Nigel Wood Irish Times - WOMADUK 2016
