Built in 1904, the historic Baltic building in Richmond was many things over the years: saloon, city hall, funeral parlor, speakeasy, a “house of prostitution,” and, most recently, a spice shop. But in this latest reincarnation, the venue is an art-filled restaurant, bar, and entertainment venue, serving Southern comfort food with live music. It’s an honor to play this fabled venue! Singer-songwriter Nate Walker, who performs under the moniker Redemption Breaking, will open. Her original music has a straightforward, compelling and sometimes edgy clarity. Her penetrating lyrics reflect the fearless truth-telling and unbothered amusement of a seasoned, female point of view. As a mostly self-taught guitarist, Nate developed a playing style that combines rhythmic finger picking, unique chords, and original tunings that complement the range and power in his voice. His songs are rooted in fundamental truths and always sung from the heart. In 2017, he won the West Coast Songwriters Redwood City chapter Song of the Year Award for “Deeper.” Nate performs as a solo acoustic artist and releases his studio recordings under the band name Redemption Breaking.
