Celebrate Haitian culture and literature at the Little Haiti Book Festival. Miami Book Fair, in partnership with Sosyete Koukouy, brings the 10th Annual Little Haiti Book Festival to the heart of Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood for a full day of genuine Haitian culture. This free and open to the community event promises a vibrant exploration of Haitian literature, art, and cultural heritage, all under the theme of Ansanm/Together. This year's edition takes place on Sunday, May 5 at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex. Attendees can expect a day filled with activities, conversations, and performances that celebrate the vibrant spirit of the Haitian community. Here's what's in store: Browse for good reads by authors from Haiti and the Haitian diaspora. Enjoy music by Inez Barlatier and DJ Nicky Mixx, and laugh along with a Haitian comedy performance by Mecca Grimo Marcelin. Move your body with a traditional Haitian dance performance and workshop hosted by Nancy St. Leger Dance Company. Find your inner zen with a yoga session led by Alexandra Jeanty Leclerc. Get creative with a hands-on art project led by Haitian-American artist Asser St. Val. Craft your own ti kays (little houses) inspired by the architecture of Little Haiti. (All ages welcome.) Immerse yourself in storytelling with sessions led by Liliane Nerette Louis, Yanui, Ansanm Kolesyon and Ketsia Theodore-Pharel. Explore history at the HistoryMiami Story booth. Unleash your inner poet at an ekphrastic poetry workshop. Engage in critical discussions about AI and the complexities of reporting the news from and about Haiti. Pick up free children's books for the young ones. The festival's online program continues on Sunday, May 19.
