Description du concert
The Filipino Cultural Heritage Society of Washington (FCHSW) proudly presents Pagdiriwang, commemorating the anniversary of Philippine Independence. Held on the first or second week of June at the Seattle Center since 1987, the event has grown into the largest festival of Filipino arts and culture in the Pacific Northwest. PHOTO ALBUM Pagdiriwang_Poster_2023_FINAL-APPROVED_web-small.jpg This celebration is a part of Seattle Center Festál, a series of cultural programs sponsored by the City of Seattle. Pagdiriwang provides a venue for Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike to learn about the culture. It is an ideal setting for presenting art, craft, song, dance, music, history, literature, and culture to promote better understanding of the Filipino cultural heritage.

Biographie de Aireene Espiritu Music

Latest review from the LA Times: http://www.latimes.com/socal/glendale-news-press/entertainment/tn-gnp-music-review-aireene-espiritu-20151104-story.html Aireene is a singer/songwriter based in Oakland, CA, playing mostly original songs accompanied by latin/african rhythms, folk, bluegrass pickings and inspirations from gospel music - a mix of stompin', swayin', and timeless Americana. She was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States at 10 years old, growing up in the third culture: the old country, the new country and a blend of both worlds. Mainly influenced by listening to Alan Lomax's field recordings from the South, and growing up listening to her uncles' Filipino folk guitar fingerpicking, her music is reminiscent of front porch storytelling, of ghosts and the living, times of laughter and tears. Aireene & The Itch (formerly The Rarities) was formed in February 2014 after recording Aireene's upcoming album Put Back Charlie for Summer 2014 release. The Rarities are Paul Olguin on bass, and Brian Judd on mandolin/guitar. Joining them when not working on their own projects are Ed Tree on guitar, Tom Corbett on mandolin, Debra Dobkin on drums, percussion,Mark "Pocket" Goldberg on bass, plus occasional special guest Rarities. "This is our jaw dropping act of the season...she gathered some of the best musicians in town around her...She has taken off like a rocket ship and everyone is suddenly in love with the music and show of Aireene Espiritu...You might like to say, "Remember When" a short way up the musical road." - Bob Stane, The Coffee Gallery Backstage, Altadena CA "Espiritu's penchant for songs that sound like they came off a 78 rpm record, listeners will be swept away." - Good Times Weekly, Santa Cruz CA http://www.aireeneespiritu.com A nice article from No Depression: http://www.nodepression.com/article/aireene-espiritu-and-roots-road
