What happens when you combine Pharcyde's Bizarre Ride 2, Dragon Ball Z, Final Fantasy 7, R&B crooning, and heavy 808 sub bass? Add a little controlled substance to the mix and you'll have Los Angeles-based artist Manus. Originally hailing from the mountainous Northeast of Vermont, Manus has been carving a niche for himself on the West Coast at events like Free Grilled Cheese and venues including Los Globos with a distinctively melodic, unapologetically honest and refreshingly musical take on modern hiphop and R&Bass with a penchant for nerd-centric subject matter. Fortunately, you won't need to sink any paychecks into collectible superhero figures to "get it." Working with notables like CRNKN and Nick Catchdubs, as well as collaborating with DMC World Champion DJ and producer Shiftee-- Manus has already carved a niche out for himself amidst the codeine haze and popular trap records of the day. Just don't call it "Nerdcore." nick cage stole my zetton.
