Description du concert
‘He’s got what it takes’ (Steve Wickham – Waterboys) ‘Genius’ ( Lou Rhodes – Lamb) ‘A force to be reckoned with’ ( Daithi Rua)

Biographie de Allen Temple

Allen Temple is a singer-songwriter from the medieval town of Ghent in Belgium, whose
music is steeped in Celtic tradition. It is imbued with a deep, contemplative calm and with
the profound, turbulent emotions of the sea. With a father from Teesdale in the north of
England and an early connection to the British Isles and their deep prehistoric legacy,
Allen was drawn to the rugged beauty of Ireland's west coast, feeling moved by the
majestic power of the Atlantic Ocean.

Living in Galway, an impromptu overnight sailing trip became a source of lasting
inspiration. Out at sea he fell deeply under the spell of the ocean, the dark power of the
swell and the mystery of the night. Later, he relocated to the Loire Valley in France,
spending years deeply immersed in zen meditation.

In the middle of the pandemic he found himself in 'le tour du bois dormant'— a quaint
stone tower nestled in a sleeping wood overlooking the Baie d'Audièrne in Finistère. "One
bright summer's day, as I sat looking out over the glistening waves, a deep sense of place
came over me there. I felt deeply rooted. I felt sudden awe for this ancient sea, that has
woven together our destinies and our lives, that have ebbed and flowed on its tides. I
decided I wanted to capture this almost ancestral pull in music, so as to honour our deep,
enduring connection to these ancient lands”.

Allen Temple is set to unveil his new album “Anam na Mara" in May. Besides being a
reflection of his own journey, this quiet gem is a witness to the weaving of his restless path
with the ancient art of storytelling. It is a testament to a soul moved by the lore of the land
and an unyielding desire to create.

"Anam na mara is a superb odyssey through the heart of a true artist".
