Biographie de Adrian Lord Piano

Adrian Lord is a classical British pianist and composer, based in the historic market town of Knutsford.

Born and bred in Cheshire, Adrian studied at the world renowned Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, before honing his craft at Colchester Institute’s School of Music. Here, he studied composition with Alan Bullard and Christopher Ball, and won the Canon Jack award for Piano Performance under the tuition of Martin Hughes and Robert Bell.

In 2016 Adrian released his debut album, ‘Journey – Twelve Romances for Piano’. A mesmerising reflection of his inspirational journey as a composer, the album was recorded at Crear – a dramatic location on the west coast of Scotland.

‘Sky Blue Piano’, his second album, was recorded on a return visit to Crear. Released in 2018, it features 12 original, uplifting pieces.

His third album, ‘Piano Meditations’ was released in 2021 and is a collection of calming compositions, played with an unhurried feel and a relaxed approach to time.

Adrian’s latest release, ‘Piano Postcards’ features ten new, beautiful tracks, inspired by some of his favourite locations. Each ‘postcard’ is a stunning musical interpretation of a place that he loves, interspersed with his own treasured memories of being there.

As with his earlier albums, it’s available both on CD and as a beautifully bound collection of sheet music for aspiring pianists.

With a joyful, melodic style that his listeners describe as tranquil and relaxing, Adrian is a regular on the concert circuit, performing at venues across the UK. He spends much of his time composing new pieces on a reconditioned 1929 Bechstein grand piano, which is his pride and joy.

During the pandemic, he won new followers through twice-weekly Facebook Lives. Described as a “must-watch” online piano performance by Pianist magazine, it was a wonderful opportunity for Adrian to connect with his listeners and help them relax.

With a lifelong love of music, which spans the decades (and genres), Adrian loves everything from classical pieces to progressive rock and cites Beethoven, Brahms, Jeff Lynne and Rick Wakeman (who he had the great pleasure of meeting at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester) as his main musical influences.

A keen walker and explorer, nature is an endless source of inspiration for Adrian. His favourite places include the stunning Scottish Islands and the breathtaking Lake District, where to date he has climbed 171 of the 214 Wainwright Fells.
