Biographie de Aline Vida
Embracing life as it unfolds isn’t always an easy feat, yet singer/songwriter Aline Vida does it so effortlessly in song. Her timeless vocals fit alongside contemporaries such as Etta James, Janis Joplin and Phoebe Snow.
Vida has called the Pacific Northwest home for several years now. She’s performed Seattle HEMPFEST, Critical Sun Radio as well El Corazón. In 2015, Vida performed one of her songs “Secrets and Lies” in an episode of the Emmy-nominated crime drama, Justified. This song was cowritten by Warren Grant.
Long before Vida called Seattle home, she earned Dramatic Arts degree from Los Angeles' American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She sang at clubs such as Les Deux Café, and Drai's Hollywood. Bassist Leroy Ball invited her to sit in with him and the Do Got Band, while Vida would perform during breaks for jazz/blues star Barbara Morrison.
Vida honed her craft across the pond in Sweden for several years before finding herself
In New York City. For over a decade, she regularly performed at celebrated gay clubs such clubs like O.W. Bar and Hannah's. Additionally, Vida joined blues legend Sweet Georgia Brown for various gigs at B.B. King's Blues Club in Times Square, as well as the famed Harlem jazz club, Lenox Lounge. Bo Diddley's longtime musical director, guitarist/composer Jim Satten, would regularly invite Vida on stage to sing.
She also could be found bringing her own special style to the stage during open mic nights on the Upper West Side at Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar. She self-released her debut LP, Visible, via CD Baby, during this time.
While New York City may be on the other side of the country, the city that never sleeps will forever run through Vida’s creative veins. “The New Yorker in me will never go away, but for now Seattle is my home,” she says. “The great outdoors is easily accessible here, and I believe your surroundings do impact your perceptions and your songwriting.”
She adds: “I've always been a deep thinker and the calmer pace has probably heightened that.”
