Biographie de Rodd Bland and the Members Only Band

Rodd Bland stands at the forefront in a heartfelt revival of his legendary father's blues catalog. Leading The Members Only Band, Rodd, a skilled drummer, orchestrates a genuine resurrection of Bobby "Blue" Bland's iconic sound, infusing each note with a profound sense of reverence and authenticity.

Onstage, Rodd and The Members Only Band do more than just pay tribute – they deliver an unparalleled blues experience that links modern listeners to Bland closely coveted heritage. Rodd's drumming virtuosity takes center stage, steering the ship with confidence and respect for the genre. The stage transforms into a sacred space, where the blues legacy comes alive, seamlessly blending his father's classics with Rodd's own musical expressions.

This revival holds a special connection to Bobby "Blue" Bland's legacy, with The Members Only Band deriving its name from Bland's popular comeback album, "Members Only," released on Malaco Records in the mid-1980s. The title track became one of Bland's most beloved singles, and its significance is embodied in the musical journey led by Rodd and The Members Only Band.

As the son of blues royalty, Rodd Bland honors the legacy of his father, Bobby "Blue" Bland, a cornerstone of blues history. Rooted deeply in the Beale Street blues tradition, Rodd's journey is a continuation of a musical heritage that includes not only his father but also B.B. King, his godfather. The Members Only Band stands as a testament to this tradition, ensuring that every note played pays homage to the soul-stirring legacy of Bobby "Blue" Bland.

Born into this rich blues tapestry, Rodd's journey began as a drummer at an early age. Learning under his father's drummers and touring with blues luminaries like Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, and Bobby Rush, Rodd's path is marked by a deep connection to the roots of the genre. His collaborations extend beyond The Members Only Band, showcasing a commitment to keeping the blues alive for new generations.

Additionally, Rodd’s accolades include a Blues Music Awards for Best Emerging Artist Album and a selection as Living Blues Magazine Awards’ Most Outstanding Musician in the Drums category, both in 2022.

In the hands of Rodd Bland, The Members Only Band, and their blues revival, the torch of Bobby "Blue" Bland's legacy burns bright, ensuring that the heart and soul of the blues endure in the hands of this devoted torchbearer.
