Biographie de David Segall Music
Raised on roots rock and soul, David Segall plays heartfelt music with a classic feel. His sultry voice and soulful songs express his life experiences as a sailor, Yogi, surfer, and lover of Nature. His vibrant melodies and upbeat, contemplative lyrics highlight the humanity within us and the connectivity between us all.
With a guitar-playing "preacher man" as a father and a mother classically trained in voice and piano, music was a part of David's life from the beginning. From piano, guitar and music composition as a child, to his first professional performance at age 17, David's rock, soul & world grooves were influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Bob Marley, Paul Simon and Marvin Gaye. Today, Segall gives soul-stirring performances and is highly sought by festivals, music venues, and charities to play his heart-centered songs. His most recent album, "Godspeed," features Zach Gill (of ALO and Jack Johnson’s band) on keyboards, and was produced by Jesse Siebenberg (Supertramp, A Fine Frenzy, Lissie).
Raised on the Central Coast of California, David caught the performance bug in high school and went on to get his B.F.A. in Acting at UCSB. He was later accepted into the National Theatre Conservatory's prestigious MFA program, but he followed his heart and returned to the path of music instead. He moved to Los Angeles and released his first album in 2007. Less than a year later, he ventured on to Chicago and started the group Modern Conversation. Together, they released three EP’s, three music videos, and toured across the Midwest and East Coast. After four years of cold winters and hot summers in Chicago, David felt the calling home to California. Finding solace on a sailboat in Santa Barbara, he started performing as a solo artist once again. After playing up and down the California coast, David embarked on his first music tour of Europe, where he performed in England, Spain, Italy, France and the Netherlands.
