Drummer Nico Stallmann, flutist Daniel Manrique- Smith, bassist Ben Tai Trawinski and guitarist Johann May founded Jin Jim in 2013.
„Vertical lift-off“ was how a German broadcaster described Jin Jim’s rise on the German jazz scene.
The quartet’s meteoric ascent is based on the innovation they bring to music - Latin, Jazz and Rock all collide with maximum impact.
Jin Jim fuses Latin, Jazz and Rock together substantiating their compositions with complex rhythmic lines. The overall result sounds at times dreamy, sometimes wild, then again rocking and in its melodics as if from a single mould.

Biographie de Jin Jim
„Jin Jim“ is a Modern-Jazz-Rock-Band consisting of young musicians from Cologne, Bonn and Peru. Their music is like a journey through cultures and time: with Hip-Hop Beatbox Flutes, German Balkangrooves, soundscapes from Island and Spain, songs about the weather or the pompous arrival of a monarch. So many different influences come together when we hear Jin Jim's unique sound, that seeks to fuse music styles with coherence. Jin Jim’s compositions are characterized by strong rhythms and a vigorous drive, letting the energy of rock music meet the improvisation of jazz. In 2014 the quartet won the „Futuresounds“ Jazz Competition at the 35th edition of the „Leverkusener Jazztage“, selected out of more than 200 competitors.

Erst vor vier Jahren hat das Quartett um den Flötisten Manrique Smith zusammen getan und eroberte vom Rheinland aus erst die Bühnen von Jazztube Bonn, der Jazztage in Leverkusen und des Jazzfestivals in Viersen, später ging Jin Jim auch international auf Tour und war im Juni 2017 auch auf der JazzBaltica zu Gast, wo sie die große Halle der Evers-Werft mit ihrem beeindruckenden Zusammenspiel begeisterten."
